Why Nostr is the internet we always wanted
When I post content on Nostr (Notes and Other Stuff) it not only belongs to me, but it stays with me as I move around the Nostr internet. Compare that to how you use apps on the current internet of information – http.
Nostr is an open network, so my content is accessible across all Nostr apps. Compare that to how you have to switch between apps like YT and FB.
If you are a Nostr user, you can see my content from any Nostr app you like with one login. Compare that to how you access apps on the current internet of information.
If your favourite app starts to go down hill, the developers will listen. And if they don’t, you can move to another app that does what you want.
Cryptographic proof of identity, and more
In Nostr security is handled by cryptographic key pairs. In plain speak, usernames and passwords created by a cryptographic generator with no human intervention.
Nostrcheck.me has verified my ID by matching my public key (my username) to my private/secret key (my password). This keypair was generated cryptographically at my request, so only I can know what it is. Only I can sign a note or a video upload linked to my public key.
When an organisation asks for loads of ID to «prove who you are», now you know they are living in the technology dark ages. There is a user-friendly tech that provides definitive cryptographic proof of your identity, proof of payment, proof of funds, proof of address, proof of authorship, and it is here right now.
Send your bank manager, passport officer or copyright lawyer to Nostr to see how data verification is done properly!
See you on Nostr, at least give it a go! A fully functioning internet of communication for the users by the users. Just a bit rough around the edges in its early days.
